A particularly sharp, properly cared-for example of the facelift 996 Targa—a car that offers perhaps the most usable, light-filled driving environment of any modern classic 911.

Supplied new in 2003, this car has had 17 services, an indication of the care which previous owners have taken with this911. It's in lovely condition and stands out from the standard 911s due to the extra light provided by the Targa top. Having been lucky enough to have driven lots of 911s, the difference is really substantial.

Mechanically it's excellent, running perfectly, pulling strongly and sounding impressive. The 6-speed manual gearbox suits the car perfectly and it's a real pleasure to drive. The service history not only includes 17 services, but documents IMS bearing replacement too. The engine runs smoke-free. I'll add full details to the advert shortly.

Bodywork is very tidy. There are some small marks - it's 23 years old. The bonnet has just been resprayed. It exhibits a slight shade difference, but this is likely to disappear with time and use. Overall it's extremely presentable and looks fantastic. The alloys are in great shape too.

The sliding glass roof arrangement—engineered by Porsche to deliver the airy cabin of a convertible with the clean, undisturbed profile and chassis rigidity of a coupe—operates smoothly and seals quietly at speed.

Inside the car, the leather seats are in very good condition - a little wear on the drivers bolster but no excess wear or tears. The instrumentation is all in good condition too and there's an aftermarket multi media centre.

Mileage is 108k and a new MOT will be provided.

A Porsche 911 is one of those cars that every driving enthusiast should own at some time, and for many, the Targa is the one to have.
